Rigging Class- This is a great class for sailors that may have just purchased a boat from a private party and aren’t quite sure how to rig it and/or want to be sure that everything on the boat is in order. The rigging class varies from about 1-3 hours long (depending on the boat); it is taught at our store in White Bear Lake using the student’s boat. Students may bring with them any number of additional people at no extra charge. The class fee for small boats like Sunfish and Hobie Waves is $80 and usually takes about an hour. The fee for larger, usually more technical boats like a Hobie 16 or LaserPerofmance’s Bahia, is $150 and takes 2-3 hours. Additional rates apply when the normal rigging class extends beyond the class’s standard length. This class is included free with the purchase of a new boat.
Overview: Class covers proper trailering procedures, mast stepping, rudder/tiller systems. Jib and main sail rigging, boom, traveler, mainsheet and mainsheet blocks, proper daggerboard use, mast rotation, sail shaping and wind indicator use, righting a capsized sailboat or catamaran, tacking, gybing and beaching the boat.
