What is a 5 Star Ski Boot Fitting?
- We start with detailed measurements and an assessment of your feet and lower legs.
- Next, we'll try on boots based on your measurements and performance.
- We check alignment to make sure you'll be set for success.
- Then we'll mold a custom orthotic for your new boots. (unless you already have one)
- Bring in your current skis (or we can help you find new ones!!) We’ll check them out and make sure you’re ready to go!
- We'll answer any questions and thoroughly explain any areas that can improve your skiing.
If you are a beginner looking for new equipment, we will dedicate our time with you to finding the right boots, skis, and anything else you need. We'll teach you what's important and why. We'll explain why custom foot support and alignment are so important. {More info here} If you are an experienced skier, you know the drill. Bring your existing insoles, or we can mold new ones while you're here.

The 5 Star Skiing Process
1. Boot Fitting: The number one problem we see with clients is that they’re in the wrong boot. The wrong boot is a boot that’s too big, too stiff, or too wide. The typical adult boot ranges in size from 22.5-31.5, they have several different flex ratings, and come in a wide variety of widths and volumes. That gives the average skier hundreds of wrong boots to choose from. Hi Tempo has trained boot fitters to narrow that choice down to the correct boot.
2. Custom Orthotics: Ski boot manufacturers recommend that the standard inserts that come inside ski boots should NOT be used for skiing. Custom orthotics position the foot for maximum comfort, control, and posture. The FootLab custom ski boot orthotics are discounted half price with a new boot purchase.
3. Canting/alignment: Correcting the stance, also known as alignment, of the skier is important for making good turns. 65-70% of the population are either bow-legged or knock-kneed and do not stand flat on their skis. These people will always struggle to ski well. Assessing alignment requires a simple check and fixing alignment is very easy.
