Binding Safety & Basics

Ski Binding Basics

Think of your bindings as the "safety fuse" of your ski setup. While they’re the critical link between your boots and your skis, their most important job is actually knowing when to let go. To help keep you safe on the hill, we use an industry-standard setting called DIN to calculate exactly when your bindings should release. That number is unique to you—it’s based on your height, weight, age, boot length, and how aggressively you like to ski.

Brake Width Tip: When picking out a pair, make sure the brake width is either equal to or just a bit wider than the waist of your skis (usually within 10-15mm) so the brakes clear the edges and lock properly when you step out.

Ski Binding Mounting & Adjusting

Because your safety is on the line, mounting and adjusting your bindings is one of those things that should ALWAYS be handled by a certified ski technician. At Hi Tempo, our pros ensure they're torqued and tested exactly to your specs before you head for the lifts.

Brands We Trust

At Hi Tempo, we only stock the gear we’d ride ourselves. You’ll find a full selection of top-tier bindings from Salomon, Tyrolia, Look, and Atomic right here in the shop.
